I have two things that I constantly talk about regarding the Antichrist:

1. Protestants and anyone who claims the pope is the Antichrist ignore the bible verse: “I came in the name of my Father, but you do not accept me; yet if another comes in his own name, you will accept him.” John 5:43. In other words Jesus is saying if the Jews don't accept him as Christ they will someday accept another man as Christ (aka the Antichrist.) This shoots down any "the Pope is the Antichrist" nonsense because he has to be ethnically and religiously Jewish.

2. Almost all the Gospel writers explicitly say not to guess who the Antichrist is because the devil will trick you.

I'm all for more Antichrist information. That being said it is very hard to find logical, credible information regarding him.

The subject of the antichrist can be characterized as thought experiment. Even the Father’s were not unanimous, nor spoke with one voice on the subject. For instance, the antichrist being Jewish was a theory advanced by only a couple of the church fathers. We really can’t know the truth of it all, except for what the church teaches in the catechism, which obviously is informed by scripture and tradition. So you’re right it’s a very fascinating subject because it can be such a broad and layered thought experiment. At least that’s how I see it.

I liked the short talk on the Antichrist but I wouldn't spend a lot of time on it. It's not in my Top 20 of preferred topics.

Thank you. Yeah it isn’t mine either. It may be good to separate myth from fact for people and The subject may be intriguing and engaging enough that it will open people up to receiving the catechesis that’s part of the lesson
