This is fantastic. I've never thought of it in exactly this way, but I have dreamed of building a ritual of prayer to guide my day. Not quite as rigorous as the liturgy of the hours, but markers that I can use to mark the day. I have some prayers I say when I wake and before I sleep, but would be worth adding some other prayers to ritualize milemarkers throughout the day.
You're most welcome! Thank YOU for reading it. I like how you put "ritualize milemarkers throughout the day." As I get into in Part 2 people have to be careful not to over-do it. For some the Liturgy of the Hours (for one example) may be indispensable. For others it may result in prayer fatigue and bring the whole house of prayer crumbling down. Each person's "house" is unique to their spiritual disposition, experience, and the conditioning of their minds. Build slowly. Thanks again for reading and for the comment! God bless and keep you my friend.
Just want you to know: at some point I implemented a house of prayer after seeing this article and it has changed my life. Going through deep darkness these days and it has helped me to find something to hold on to and it has given structure to my days. Prayer works, the Holy Spirit is ever active in our lives--and whatever combination of these brought this article into my life, I just wanted to say thank you for it!
Powerful testimony, brother. So important for others to see testimony like this.
Hey, I wouldn't steer ya wrong ;-)
Try to stick with it. Make adjustments when you feel they're necessary (things are too routine, boring, etc.), but try to leave the main pillars in place. The devil tries hard to attack a house of prayer by looking for any possible way in—the back door, a window, a crack in the wall, a cellar door you forgot to lock. He'll climb down the chimney if he has to but he's not bringing you gifts. So keep the fireplace burning. May God continue to guide you through the darkness, and along the path of your journey to Him.
